Between the thick forest and the widest river, you find a large stretch of plains. In the middle of the plains, you see the form of a city. You approach it cautiously only to find there's no one there.
After a bit of investigation, you find a couple of people, built small with sharp ears, lurking in the alley ways. The tense up as you approach but, after studying you, seem to calm down.
After you find a couple of these people, others begin to emmerge from buildings and daily life seems to resume in the town. Confused, you continue on through the town, deciding it better not to ask any questions.
