Sigah Nur Kiannah
Return
While walking through the desert you misstep and stumble over a small rock. You hit the ground hard and suddenly it crumbles beneath you and falls away. You plummet into an underground cave and hit the hard stone floor hard. Dazed, but mostly unharmed, you sit up to find that this isn't a floor at all but, rather, the brick roof of a three story stone building. Looking around, you find you are in a giant cave containing a stone city.
Looking down off the roof top at the city streets, you notice not many of the inhabitants are out. There are only a few people--people with long, sharp ears, leathery wings and canine tails--walking in the wide streets.
With a clamour a wooden hatch in the roof top, which you hadn't noticed before, crashes open. An angry man with the same strange features as every one else in the city pokes his head out. He's covered in wounds that have been sewn shut and one of his wings is completely gone, the other is tattered beyond repair. He climbs out onto the roof, looking extreamly angry.
"What the hell are you doing on my roof?!" he demands.
"I, er...uh," you stutter, distracted by the giant axe strapped to his back. "The, uh...I was, er, walking and, uh..."
Luckily he notices the hole above you where you fell in from the desert. He growls, "Roof caved in, huh? Fine, I guess that's not your fault. Just get the hell off my roof."
"I, er...can't..." you say looking down of the building then up at the hole, far above you out of your reach.
The man frowns and turns back to the hatch. He says, "I'll show you to the village exit. Follow me."
  "Thanks," you say gratefully.
"Make no mistake, I'm only doing this so that you're not out here lurking on my roof," the large man says gruffly and goes down a ladder into the building. You follow him.
"Where am I?" you ask him, your curosity out weighing your fear.
"This is the prison of Sigah Nur Kiannah. I'm the executioner here, Kirash," he answers.
You follow Kirash out of the plain stone room and down a set of wide stone stairs into a hallway   lined with cells. The men in these cells also have wings, sharp ears and tails.
"What are they in here for?" you ask the executioner.
"Minor things...this is level one. They're just holding cells..." Kirash responds and leads you down to the end of the hallway and down another set of stairs. The stairs terminate in a narrow hall with a door at each end. He leads you through one of the doors into a room which, based on the fact there's a bed and set of drawers next to one of the walls, seems to be a bedroom.
You follow the executioner to the far wall of the bedroom and through another door which leads to yet another stair case. This leads to another long hall filled with cells. The men in these cells, how ever, are dirty and shackled. They watch you pass with sad eyes.
"These men," Kirash says before you can ask. "Have been condemned to death and will be executed. They are rapests, theifs and murderers."
You notice another stair case leading down. You ask him, "What about that one? Where does it lead?"
"To the Execution Room and torture chambers. It also leads to the cells where the most dangerous criminals are kept, as well as those convicted of treason."
Kirash leads you swiftly down the hall to the heavy double doors of the prison. He taps his axe against them and they open. You follow him out into the street and past numerous buildings. He leads you to the city's edge and a packed ramp of dirt which leads to the surface.
"Thank you," you say again and leave quickly.
